今天来聊聊三件事:

 食物与自尊 | FOOD & SELF-ESTEEM

女性在谈论食物时,往往会把它和自尊联系在一起。这有错吗?也许有人会这么认为,但其实不然。

Women, when speaking of food, tend to relate it in a large amount to self-esteem.

Is this wrong? One might think so, but no.

我们需要记住的是,思想和身体其实一体,密不可分的。我们的身体不仅会受到头脑中发生的事情的影响,也会反过来改变我们的感受,影响情绪。试想一下,当我们觉得身体健康,饮食均衡时,很可能比吃垃圾食品而不运动时感觉更好。所以身体部位和大脑化学的良好运作能为健康打下基础!

We need to remember our minds and bodies are one and, inextricably linked. Not only can our bodies be affected by what’s going on in our mind, our bodies can change how we feel emotionally. If we think about it, when we are feeling physically fit and having a balanced diet, chances are we feel better about ourselves than when we fill up with junk food and aren’t exercising. So the good functioning of our body parts and our brain chemistry provide the foundation for a SENSE OF WELLNESS!

女性 vs 男性食物 | FEMENINE VS. MASCULINE FOODS 

女生喜欢低热量的酸奶,而男士则喜欢吃肉

Ladies love low-calorie yogurt, and men demand the meats.

无论是否刻意为之,用餐者常常会将健康食品与“女性气质”联系起来,而同时把不健康食品与“男性气质”联系起来。

Diners, consciously or not, associate healthy food with “femininity” and unhealthy food with “masculinity.”

为什么呢?答案很简单:一切都要从史前时代说起!

But why? The answer is simple: prehistoric times!

1982年,费尔斯坦出版了”直男指南“——《真正的男人不吃乳蛋饼》,不久便成为畅销书。他问道:“人们是否可以通过吃乳蛋饼和沙拉来征服领地?” 。专家们也同意,作为穴居人,男人是猎人,依靠蛋白质来长肌肉,而女人则是水果和蔬菜的采集者。史前时期人们对食物的获取方式不同,导致了今天在饮食方式上的性别差异

In 1982, Feirstein published the bestselling “guidebook to all that is truly masculine”, Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche. And he asks, would men have been able to conquer territories on a diet of quiche and salad?

And experts agree. As cavemen, men were hunters, relying on protein to build muscles, while women were gatherers of fruit and vegetables. Differing access to foods in prehistoric times led to gendered patterns of eating today.

然而今天,迫于媒体的压力,女性仍然对碳水化合物和饱和脂肪抱有负罪感,经常觉得有责任、有义务采取健康饮食,并对食物在情感上有更多依赖,而男性则全然不会。

However, today it continues due to social and media pressure. Women tend to bind carbs, saturated fats and junk food to guilt, and often feel a duty to eat healthy, having more emotional attachment to food, when men don’t.

所以如果再看回第一个话题,食物和自尊,把这两者联系起来就非常理所当然了。但是,姑娘们,让我们踢翻历史模式和营销策略,是时候改变了

So going back to Food & Self-Esteem, linking food to self-esteem and is natural. However let’s not follow on the pre-historic patterns and social and marketing standards!

HOW WOMEN ARE RUINING FOOD (LOL 😂) 

先看看酸奶,一种中性食品,它从强调女性化的”轻”和“健康”,逐渐被视作富含蛋白质的运动燃料,开始瞄准男性因为男性不吃他们的生物黑客(LOL!).

Lets look at YOGURT, a neutral food. It went from being feminized with the ‘Light’ and ‘Healthy’ versions, to being marketed as a protein-rich workout fuel for men, because men don’t diet they BIO-HACK (LOL!).

因此,人们普遍认为,当男性享受某种东西时,他会为这个东西加分。但当女人喜欢某样东西时,她们却会“毁”了它

So the common perception that comes with this, is that when men enjoy something, they elevate it. But when women enjoy something, they ruin it.

同样,女人总是不必要地把简单的食物复杂化:当你可以喝低咖啡因双份焦糖糖浆大豆玛奇朵的时候,谁还要喝普通咖啡呢?

It is also thought that women unnecessarily complicate food that should be simple, ruining it: why drink coffee when you can have a half-caf double caramel soy macchiato instead?

这一切意味着什么呢?毫无意义!女人是怎么毁了食物的?那你得去问男人,在这件事上,他们和我们可谓是不分伯仲。男人可以沉迷于买牛排、烤牛排,而女人也不过只是想要一杯精致的玛奇朵

彼此彼此!

So what does all this mean? And how are women ruing food? The same way they do.

Men can obsess over every aspect of buying, drying, and grilling a steak, but women are the high-maintenance ones for wanting a sophisticated macchiato.

(LOL) Nice try!

However, to conclude on a very happy note, there is a trend towards ‘effort’ that unites the sexes. People are becoming more receptive to things that take longer. People are looking for an identity with their food. As everybody’s lives are getting more stressful, and we need more nutrients. Both men and women are getting pushed into eating well. And these are good news!
